“Link in bio” – You probably get across this term everyday on Instagram. and that’s because the app has infamously not allowed links for years, except in a user’s bio.
But, now the photo-sharing app is finally easing up on its Direct Message — Instagram’s latest update has added the ability to share links in direct messages, the company announced in a blog post.
Users will now be able to share and preview website links right in their DM thread. “We’ve added support for links in Direct. You can share website links with friends and preview them directly from your thread. You’ll also see links for phone numbers and addresses,” company announced in an official statement.
Additionally, Instagram has added support for landscape and portraits in DM, meaning that the users no longer have to crop their images before sending them.
Starting Thursday, the link feature is available to all users, while portrait and landscape DMs are available to iOS users. Android users are expected to get this functionality very soon.
