KickAss Torrents, a famous torrent website which was shutdown by U.S authorities and its owner was arrested in July 2016, is back online under a new domain name, with the same staff as before.
After its shutdown, many copies of the original site were made and all disappeared but there were no signs of the original team and website. The great news is that, the site is now back online.
Under the name of katcr.co, the site offers the same service as the original KAT domain with an active forum although the Torrents feature may take some time to be fully operational.
Currently the users are facing difficulties connecting to website because of overwhelmed response. There is a public message left by the original KAT team on the website stating below:
Servers Load have been affected. We are working on fix this as soon as possible. One thing is for sure, we are not going anywhere, even as much these behind this acts want us to. Cowards always choose the shadows to commit their acts, and I do personally hope they know how to pray, they will need it.
KickAss staff told a source that “We have all members on board and they continued to share tirelessly even before the torrent engines returned. The torrent community can continue to expect to see uploads from all the names they know and trust.”
“The majority of our original Staff, Admins and Moderation team joined us after Kat.cr went down – which is something we’re very proud of. This shows the loyalty, dedication and real love for KAT that we all share,” The KickAss team told TorrentFreak.
2016 was a bad year for Torrent Sites
Torrent pirate sites faced many issues in this year, 2016. Torrentz.eu was forced to shutdown, then Thepiratebay was forced to give up its .se domain, while just a couple of days ago, court in Australia has ordered to block Thepiratebay permanently within 15 days in the country.
