Spam comments on YouTube videos have always been a major problem. And it’s one legitimate issue YouTube hasn’t done much about. But now, YouTube has implemented a new method for creators to filter out comments with links and hashtags.

Block comments with links and hashtags.

To enable the new settings and to filter out spam comments, go to Creator Studio > Community > Community settings > Block Links and check the box. After doing so, the comments with links or hashtags will stay in a queue and will have to be reviewed before they go live.

YouTube’s new feature promises to be helpful to reduce spam on the platform and to keep it clean. Unfortunately, the new feature will probably won’t be able to detect comments like “click my profile picture to see a prize,” But it’s finally a start.
