Since the last week, some iPhone X customers have complained that their phone screen does not work at near-freezing temperatures. According to a few users on Reddit, the device would stop recognizing most of their touches as soon as they step outside.
While some of the users have said that locking and then unlocking their iPhone solves the issue, but for such a pricey and brand new phone, it shouldn’t even be an issue at first place. Now, based on Apple’s response to The Loop, it could be fixed with a software update.
According to Apple’s spokesperson, the company is aware of “instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment.”
The spokesperson didn’t explain why it happens in the first place, but said that Apple is already working on a fix. Also, the company didn’t specify an exact time-frame but it seems most likely to be rolled into iOS 11.2.
