microsoft office chromebooks

A little late, but it’s about time. Microsoft Office for Android is now available on all Play Store-compatible Chromebooks.

Over a year ago, when Android app support arrived on Chrome OS, Microsoft’s Office Suite apps were among the first reviewers. But everybody’s assumption that they’d also be available on Play Store-supported Chromebooks proved to be entirely wrong.

Now, after more than a year, the apps are finally here and are reportedly showing up on Samsung’s Chromebook Pro, Acer’s Chromebook 15, and Acer’s C771. Devices like Asus’ Chromebook Flip will get free access to Office, but larger devices will require a subscription.

Microsoft has a rule across Windows, iOS, and Android hardware that the larger devices, more than 10.1 inches, need an Office 365 subscription to unlock the functionality to create, edit, or print documents.
