Nobody likes liars and nobody likes being promised something, only to have it taken away without any explanation. Motorola users are going through the same feeling right now.

Motorola, at the launch, advertised Android N and O updates for its Moto G4 line, but as shocking as it sounds, none of these phones were listed in the company’s official Oreo update list. In fact, all mentions of Android O promise has been wiped away.

Company mentioned that Moto G4 line would get Android O on many occasions, and the main piece of evidence is the screenshot you can see below. Motorola claims in infographic the following: “Moto Pure phones like the Moto G4 Plus will get upgraded to Android operation system versions N and O.”

Old infographic with the mention of Android O.

But if you now visit the Moto G4’s Amazon India, you’ll find the same infographic as above – just without any mention of an upgrade to O.

New infographic without any mention of Android O.

Not just that, a brochure for the G4 Plus in Spanish claims the same thing. The “Moto Pure” section says “La version Moto Pure de Moto G recibe actualización a las versiones del sistema operativo Android N y O …” You don’t need to learn Spanish to see that Android O was clearly promised by Motorola here as well.

It doesn’t seem like Motorola knows what they are doing. Backing away from their promise and restricting to only Android N has left their customers fuming; and rightly so.

Motorola was once used to be lauded for its quick updates. But now it seems the company is more focused on releasing as many models as possible than living up to promises.
