After Apple’s admission that they were slowing down older iPhones, other big mobile companies are coming out taking a dig at the Apple, as well as clearing up their positions. In statements given to Phone Arena, Samsung and LG said that they don’t throttle old phone performance.
LG, in their statement was a bit more enthusiastic by saying, “Never have, never will! We care what our customers think.” While on the other hand, Samsung was a bit more collected.
Samsung does uses software tricks to adjust battery charging current and duration, but they “do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone,” as the company said.
Here is Samsung’s full statement:
“Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile’s top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone.”
