Samsung, during a launch event in China, unveiled a new expensive flip phone, the Samsung W2018 and many of the device’s specs are on par with the S8 and Note8, with an exception: the camera lens.

The W2018 flip phone is the latest addition to Samsung’s W line. It’s the 10th anniversary of the W series, and every year it gets updated a new flip phone which is still popular in Asia. The devices are priced higher than typical Samsung global flagships.

“Hi Bixby, what’s true luxury?”

Yep, the new W2018 – in a first for Samsung’s premium line – comes with Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby and there is a new dedicated button on the side of the phone to toggle it. The voice assistant started supporting Chinese voice input as of last month.

With an aperture of f/1.5, the W2018 has a 12-megapixel rear camera which can capture sharp images in less light. It also comes with a 5-megapixel f/1.9 front camera. The aperture though can also be switched to f/2.4 to capture more of the background in photos.

The W2018 has a 4.2-inch HD AMOLED front display, and a 4.2-inch HD inner display. The device has a rear fingerprint scanner, dual SIM slots, and a pretty small 2,300 mAh battery. Other than the battery, all the other specs are that of a modern flagship device: Snapdragon 835, 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 256GB of storage plus a USB-C port.

The phone will launch with Android Nougat, and there is no word on the official price of the device yet.
