Sony, a few days ago, promised the latest Android OS for the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. According to Xperia Blog, the company confirmed that the update would be coming in December. But there is now even better news: the update is available for the phones, starting today.

According to the official announcement made on Sony’s website, the Oreo update is starting to roll out to the Xperia XZ Premium today. That’s more than a month ahead of the previously announced date.

The Android Oreo for XZ Premium comes with a lot of new features, including 3D Creator, which can be used to scan your face to create an avatar or 3D image. The camera app gets Autofocus Burst and Predictive Capture, which takes images if it detects a smile.

The front-facing speakers also get some improvements and the other software features such as app shortcuts will also come through the Oreo update. The roll-out will hit devices gradually as it is part of a phased process. But you shouldn’t have to wait too long.
