WhatsApp, in its new beta has released a bunch of new features, including tap to unblock, picture-in-picture, link-based invite to a group, and private replies in groups.
The features were first spotted by WABetaInfo. Users can now chat to blocked contacts by simply unblocking them using the new action: tap and hold to unblock and send a message.”
Moving on to the next feature, the Private Replies will let users reply privately to a person within a group. To do this, simply tap on the message you want to reply and select ‘Reply privately’ from the pop-up. You will stay in the group while replying privately.
WhatsApp, in its Android app, has also included a new shortcut called Invite via link, very similar to the one in its iOS app. Though “this is visible only to administrators.”
The app is further introducing “Picture-in-Picture” feature. The PiP will enable users to have a video chat with their friends and simultaneously message someone else.
WhatsApp parent company, Facebook, on the other hand is also exploring business opportunities for the social app. The service appears set to launch a brand new business app.
“While chatting with businesses, you can check your contact’s profile to see which type of account they’re using. A verified account has a green checkmark badge in its profile,” WhatsApp wrote in the FAQ.
The WhatsApp for business app is currently being tested by a group of testers and will be soon introduced to the general users.
